My name is Malia and I work at 4-C Stables.  I have
been riding horses for 8 years.  My horses' name is
"Phillip", he is a half Arabian palomino gelding.  I
bought him from Stacey 2 years ago.  He has been
so much fun and I have learned so much from
having him.
I started working at 4-C in the fall of 07 and have
loved every minute of it.  I work about 20 hours a
week helping do all sorts of things.  I feed 5 nights a
week, clean stalls, clean and exercise horses and
even help with lessons.  I do different things nearly
every day so I stay on my toes.  Since I have been
working  at 4-C  I have the money to start guitar
lessons - which I love.   I go to Faith Bible Church in
DeSoto and hope to play guitar in the band by the
end of 08.
2 Timothy 1:7
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity and fear but a spirit of power of
love and of self discipline.
My name is Lisa Adair.  I have been riding nonstop for the past 7 years.
I've experienced everything from jumping fences to running barrels.  I've
worked at several places that have horses, the first was at Bluebonnet
Ridge Ranch, where I started taking lessons.  Later I mucked stalls for my
farrier and exercised horses for a private individual.  Now I am working at
4-C.  Every job had something different that needed to be done.  I've
learned how to basic medical treatments, lunge horses, clean tack and use
Clinton Anderson's methods of training.
Currently, I just have one horse, and that's "Aggie".  He is a registered
Appaloosa, very typical of the breed with hard headed stubbornness but
incredible smarts.  "Aggie" is 14 and has come back into riding after years
of pleasurable standing around in the pasture and getting fat.  I was
incredibly glad to have him after we had to but my first horse down from a
serious colic.  Nowadays, he does just about anything you ask him to do.
We have been on trailrides, sleepovers, and playdays.  Aggie is just my all
around good boy.
Working at 4-C has been fantastic.  I was thrilled when I got the chance to
work there after Mrs. Carpenter called my Ag teacher at the high school
looking for help.  I started out with just one or two days a week and it has
grown so much that I am now out there almost every day of the week -
working or not!  My job includes teaching summer camps and riding
lessons, riding and working with horses and feeding and cleaning on the
weekends.  Working at the barn is my dream job, because that is what I
want to do for the rest of my life.  If you ask anyone who knows me, they'll
tell you I'm the one that loves horses.  I hope to one day own my own
ranch and train horses.  I am a little sad that I'll eventually be leaving the
4-C family (not forever) in the fall, when I move to Texas A&M Commerce
to continue my education in Animal and Equine Science.
