We start off with lessons on safety and the basics of grooming and saddling. From there we teach all sorts of things. Such as: *Catching *Haltering *Leading *Tying *Bathing *Stall Cleaning *Breeds and Colors *Mounting *Dismounting *Emergency Stop *Direct Reining *Indirect Reining *Walk and Trot From that point we put emphasis on good horsemanship skills. For our younger riders we have the "Savvy Stars" chart. This will help track different areas that have been taught. Kids must pass all levels to graduate to become an intermediate rider. This is self paced and helps make sure that they are strong in all the basic areas. Once they start the intermediate level of riding we go on to teach such things as: *Tack Care *Posture *Leads *Patterns *Verbal Commands *Leg Pressure *Obstacle Crossings *Problem Solving *Horse Manners *Balanced Trotting *Lope/Canter *Transitions *Backing *Tack Care *Tack Fitting and much more......learning has no end, especially with horses! Riders that take lessons are encouraged go on trail rides and other "outings" that we go to. This is a way to have fun and use the skills they have learned!
