This is "Cowboy".  He is a 22 year old Arabian.  He may be
older but he is very spirited and has lots of energy.  He loves to
run on the trail and enjoys the playdays at the Cowboy church.
He is for an intermediate rider because he can really move.  He
came to live with us at 4-C Stables because he wasn't getting
good care where he was.   He loves treats and his favorite
friend in the paddock is "Cheyenne".
This is the famous "Toby".  He is just an awesome horse with lots of
stories to tell.  He is about 17 years old.  He has a great personality
except at the time to saddle - then he might try to nip at you.
Someone must have been mean to him when they put the saddle on.
He is for the beginner or the intermediate rider.  Most of the time a
beginner can't get him to move very fast.   One time he was sliding off
a cliff but managed to hang on long enough for his rider to get off.  He
ended up sliding down the cliff and ended up with only a little scratch.
This is "My O My".  He is also about 23 years old and is just as
spunky as the young horses.  He is a retired show horse that won
lots during his career.  He is usually only ridden English and
loves to canter around.   He is for intermediate riders.  "My" has
such a beautiful face and is so gentle with people - however, that
is not the case in the paddock.  He is mean and tries to run
everyone away from their food!  He lived in a stall for most of his
life and when we let him stay outside he looked like he was in
Heaven!  He hates having to go in the stall now!  We usually only
put him in when the weather is nasty!
This is "Smokey".  He is another old guy - probably
about 23 years old.  His owner rode him in parades and
did lots of neat stuff with him.  He is a great horse with
lots of personality.  He is ready to lope whenever
anyone wants to but he is still real gentle.  He was in the
parade when President Bush was first elected.
"Smokey"  may be old but he rules the paddock,
everyone waits for him to get to his bucket before they
go to eat.
This is "Brad".  He is a very special horse because he survived
cancer.  He had to have his left eye removed but he is doing just
great!  We were lucky enough to get "Brad" from a family that
didn't ride him anymore and wanted him to have a nice home.  He
is wonderful to be around and the kids love to ride him.  It is a bit
hard to look at him without the eye at first but then when you see
what a wonderful personality he has you forget about it!
This is "Vick".  He is another old guy!  We are guessing that
he is around 28 years old.  He had a really hard life as a
ranch horse before he came to live with us.  He is very
gentle and will try to please you no matter what!  He really
has a heart of gold!  He sort of has a sideways lope
because of a previous injury.  Anyone can ride "Vick"
because he seems to know if the rider is afraid or if they
want to go fast.  He may not be the most comfortable horse
to ride but we just love him because he always tries!
This is "Low Down Duke".  He was given to 4-C Stables to be
used for the kids.  His owners didn't have time for him and wanted
him to go to a good home.   He is very handsome and is a very
nice horse to ride.  As you can see he doesn't really have any
concerns!   He can be ridden by beginners and even
intermediate riders love him.   Stacey takes him on trail rides and
is going to try to teach him to rope.
